Thank you for your interest in submitting to CounterCulturalist. Please read our About section and FAQ to understand our ethos and what we’re looking for. We accept poetry and nonfiction. Do not send work entirely or partially created by AI.
We accept previously published work as long as you retain the rights to reprint it.
Response times may vary, but are generally quick. We look forward to reading your work.
Poetry
Send up to 5 poems, no line limit, in a single file.
We accept poetry under the sections Raw and Classic.
Raw is for work that captures an authentic state, follows a unique internal logic, or delves into conceptual or emotional territory, whether obliquely or fiercely. Poems can be strange or unhinged as long as they show intention. Classic embraces meaning through form, understands the role of structure in expression, and recognizes beauty in suffering—not to aestheticize it, but to honor truth. Classic is for work that looks outward—beyond self and into God, the universe, nature, humanity, etc.
Nonfiction
Send no more than 10k words, double-spaced, in a single file.
We accept essay, opinion, memoir, interview, exposé, and more.
Real seeks opinions, experiences, questions, reflections, understandings—as they are. Not curated to fit accepted ideological standards, not beholden to the whim of culturally imposed thought. What can’t you say without reprisal or exile? Say it here.
